“LILA Project: New Incentives for Sustainable Use of Natural Rangelands”, Ecolur’s New Video

Ecolur has prepared a new video, “LILA Project: New Incentives for Sustainable Use of Natural Rangelands”, which presents the challenges associated with pasture use and possible solutions. The roads leading to remote pastures are in poor condition, there are no watering points and enclosures for animals, which leads to overgrazing and degradation of pastures located close to the settlements. Climate change is also having its adverse impact.

The video presents the work carried out for the beneficiary communities of Lori, Tavush, Vayots Dzor and Syunik Regions within the framework of "Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia" (LILA) project. Pasture management plans were developed and put under implementation, roads were repaired, watering points and enclosures were built and training courses were conducted by the project. In total 21 infrastructures were built in 15 settlements, and mobile hybrid solar power plants were provided for remote pastures. Project experts and representatives of local self-government bodies talk about the results of the project and present possible solutions to alleviate existing problems.

The video was produced within the framework of "Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia" (LILA) project, which is funded by the Swiss Government through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by the Caucasus and Armenia offices of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in partnership with the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO.
