Armenian Government Approved Draft Law on Ratification of Nagoya Protocol

At its session on December 18, 2025, the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved the draft law of the Republic of Armenia “On Ratification of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from Their Utilization,” which is supplementary to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity.

According to the rationale of this resolution, ratifying the Nagoya Protocol will strengthen the state’s sovereignty over natural resources and establish a legal framework for fair and mutually beneficial relations arising from their use. It will also create new opportunities for international financial assistance and scientific and technical cooperation.
