During the session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia held on November 13, Environment Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan presented the activities planned by the Ministry of Environment within the allocations envisaged by the 2026 state budget draft.
For the successful hosting of the COP17 conference, the 2026 state budget draft will allocate an initial 1 billion AMD to the Ministry of Environment, while the remaining required funds will be provided from the Government’s reserve fund.
By a government resolution, 5 billion 775 million AMD has been allocated for the renovation, construction, and improvement of the areas of “Meridian” Expo Center.
The conference will be held in two main zones:
The Blue Zone, designated for “Meridian” Expo Center, will host discussions and negotiations among government delegations of the parties on the documents presented at COP17, as well as high-level consultations and meetings. Decisions approved in this zone become binding for all 196 Parties of the Convention. A key agenda item will be the evaluation process of the global biodiversity strategy.
The Green Zone, located at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, will bring together representatives of civil society, the scientific community, youth, and international organizations.
