In the framework of 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, scheduled to take place in Armenia from October 18 to 30, special attention is being paid to all components of security. Security officers and coordinators have already been appointed, as RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“The event is unprecedented for the Republic of Armenia in terms of its scale and significance. The coordinator for nuclear safety of the event is the Director of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” noted Artur Vardanyan, Deputy Director of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
To conduct workshops with representatives of relevant agencies, an expert mission of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been in Armenia since March 30.
The workshop agenda includes issues related to the planning, preparation, and risk assessment of nuclear safety measures.
