Landslips in Trchkan

Landslip processes are detected in the territory of Trchkan waterfall. According to WWF-Armenia Head Karen Manvelyan, who visited Trchkan on 1 May to discuss upcoming forest habitat rehabilitation project in the Trchkan area. During their visit to the site a landslide on the way to Trchkan was detected, which was laid in the course of constructing a future HPP. “We stated that the area is very sensitive from the point of view of landslide and now our prediction became obvious,” said Manvelyan. On the photos presented by Manvelyan we can clearly see both the landslips and the whole slope together with Populus Tremula failed down. The landslip has affected a part of the road constructed for HPP. We would like to add on behalf of EcoLur that the projects submitted for the opinion of environmental expert assessment, landslip zones haven’t almost been assessed. Nobody bears the responsibility for that certain action to cause landslip processes.
