"COPPER" LLC is again trying to hold public hearings on the establishment of a smelter in Avan administrative district. According to the announcement posted on the official website of Yerevan Municipality, on December 22, 2021, at 11:00 am, the first stage of the public discussion on the application for the preliminary environmental impact assessment of the smelter submitted by COPPER LLC will take place in the building of Avan administrative district in Yerevan.
Reminder: the previous hearings initiated by the company in September of this year did not take place. 1in.am host Gohar Hayrapetyan posted on her Facebook page that the hearings did not take place due to lack of proper awareness. By the way, it was supposed to be the fourth discussion, but there was no information about the previous hearings on the website of Environment Ministry. There is also no announcement about the hearings to be held on December 22 on the official website of Environment Ministry.
After the previous hearings, EcoLur stressed that the application of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the smelter filed by Copper LLC should be rejected. "EcoLur" Informational NGO addressed a letter to "Environmental Impact Expertise Center" SNCO of RA Environment Ministry, submitting the possible reasons for issuing a negative conclusion.
It should be mentioned that on 8 October 2021 "Environmental Impact Assessment Center" SNCO of Environment Ministry issued a negative conclusion to the application for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submitted by “Copper” LLC in Avan Administrative District in Yerevan.
