During the spring tree planting, activities will be carried out in 20 parks and groves of Yerevan with valuable trees. 50 thousand flowering bushes and about half a million flowers and decorative bushes will be planted, as it was announced on February 26 during the procedural session of the Yerevan Municipality.
According to the press release disseminated by the municipality, extensive projects will be implemented in 2024 in the field of greening in order to restore and establish forest zones, to replace trees that have lost their vitality. It is also planned to green the area along Myasnikyan Avenue, which has been irregularly and illegally built for decades. In particular, it was reported during the session that the territories seized from the community will be cleared of illegal buildings, and a green zone will be established on 26 ha.
"For decades, we have lost a huge amount of green areas in Yerevan as a result of such a policy, and with various justifications and excuses, there has been no end to irregular construction at the expense of green areas. It's been at least a year or two since that logic has been put to an end. Land seized from the Yerevan community and, in particular, from green areas is also theft, what is public should remain public, what is a green area should remain a green area," Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan stressed out.
