At its session on December 25, the Government of the Republic of Armenia designated a number of settlements across the country as tourism centers.
Specifically, in the Vayots Dzor Region, the settlements of Areni, Khachik, Gnishik, Arpi, Agarakadzor, Yelpin, Chiva, Rind, and Aghavnadzor were designated as “Areni” Tourism Center.
The settlements of Yeghegis, Hermon, Arates, Horbatagh, Goghtanik, Artabuynk, Shatin, Hors, Yeghegnadzor, Gladzor, Vernashen, Aghnjadzor, and Vardahovit were designated as Yeghegis” Tourism Center.
The settlements of Jermuk and Gndevaz were designated as “Jermuk” Tourism Center.
“The potential of settlements designated as tourism centers must be recognized and protected. It is necessary to preserve and safeguard landscapes, biodiversity, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and local values,” the document states.
