Lake Sevan Preservation Expert Committee and EU4Sevan Project Team discussed the priorities and the opportunities for collaboration in order to improve the ecological condition of Lake Sevan.
Head of EU4Sevan Project Team Christian Henschel noted that the main goal is to have a common vision, to jointly solve the complex and multi-component problems re Lake Sevan. "The research component is very important for us. Decision-makers must make informed and fact-based decisions. We are looking for ways to work together here," Christian Henschel said.
Bardukh Gabrielyan, Chair of Lake Sevan Preservation Expert Committee, NAS RA, mentioned, "The most important thing is the quality of the water, and it can be improved by raising the level of the lake. We need to think about more efficient use of water. In the current context of climate change, the outflow of water from the lake must be reduced, and for that we must reduce water losses, which in some places reach 80 percent."
