Food Security To Improve in 10 Climatically Vulnerable Villages in Armenia

In 10 villages of Shirak and Tavush Regions, Armenia, which are vulnerable to climate change, the flexibility of agricultural livelihoods will be increased and food security will be improved. The Government of Armenia has approved the proposal to sign the grant agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Asian Development Bank on t"Program for Enhancing Climate Change Adaptable Food Security" (CAFSEP).

Within the framework of the agreement, the Japanese Foundation for a Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific Region (JFPR) will provide a $3 million grant to the Armenian government.

The program will focus on villages where smallholder farmers face high levels of poverty, food insecurity and climate risks. The names of the villages are not mentioned in the documents. With the funds of the grant, 10 villages will be provided with climate-resistant energy solutions.
