On May 28 , around 16:30 , a strong tornado occurred in Artik community, accompanied by large-sized hail.
The strong tornado damaged roofs and uprooted trees on Babajanyan Street in Artik Town, as the official website of Artik Municipality informs.
Due to the hail, fruit orchards and cereal crop fields were damaged in the villages of Arevshat, Saralanj, Nahapetavan, Harich, Pokr Mantash, and Mets Mantash of Artik community, and partially in Geghanist as well.
By order of the head of the Artik community, a working group led by Deputy Head Vardan Makeyan is examining the preliminary damage caused by the tornado and hail.
On May 29, the head of Artik community, Anan Voskanian, along with deputies Vardan Makeyan, Arman Ajamoghlyan , and sectoral representatives of the municipality, visited Babajanyan Street in Artik Town, where the strong tornado had damaged roofs and uprooted trees the day before.
The community head toured the area, familiarized himself with the damage on site, spoke with residents, and instructed the sectoral officials to go house to house and inventory the damage in full detail.
By order of the community head, a working commission was formed to assess the extent of damage caused by the large-sized hail in the villages of Arevshat, Saralanj, Nahapetavan, Harich, Pokr Mantash, Mets Mantash, and Geghanist , and the strong tornado in Artik Town.
As a result of the commission's preliminary assessment , it was revealed that in the villages of Mets Mantash, Pokr Mantash, Geghanist, Arevshat , and Harich, the hail damage was estimated to be up to 10 percent.
