Armenia’s Long-Term Vision Is to Become a Biodiversity-Rich, Sustainable, and Climate-Resilient Country by 2050, Minister of Environment Says

Armenia’s primary objective is to establish an integrated and synergistic approach that ensures climate change mitigation, adaptation, and biodiversity conservation policies function in a complementary and mutually reinforcing manner. For this purpose, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia has developed the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), which will serve as one of the cornerstones of the country’s environmental policy.

Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matyosyan made this statement during the working meeting titled Biodiversity Loss and Climate Change: Aligning National Strategies.”

Hambardzum Matyosyan noted that Armenia’s long-term vision is to become a biodiversity-rich, sustainable, and climate-resilient country by 2050.

He also emphasized that work has already begun on the development of NDC 3.0 phase (2026–2035), which will be more ambitious and comprehensive-covering renewable energy development, energy efficiency, climate-resilient infrastructure, climate-adaptive agriculture, and integrated water resource management.
