Earth Hour will be observed worldwide from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 28, 2026: this will mark the 20th anniversary of the global event.
On this day, thousands of cities and communities around the world, along with millions of people, express their support for the planet each year by switching off lights for one hour or taking other environmentally beneficial actions.
In Yerevan, Earth Hour will take place in a musical setting. The Armenian branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), in cooperation with Candlenight Concerts and with the support of the Yerevan Municipality, will hold a special open-air event at Republic Square. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of environmental issues, promote sustainable lifestyles, and highlight our shared responsibility to protect nature.
At 20:30, the lights at Republic Square will be switched off, and participants will experience a unique musical atmosphere that will bring people together around the idea of caring for nature and unity. Since its launch in 2007, the Earth Hour initiative has become known for the symbolic act of turning off lights in support of the planet. “Over the years, we have evolved our activities, breathed new life into the movement, and advanced our mission to create the biggest hour for Earth. In 2026, we will celebrate our 20th anniversary, marking two decades of collective actions and stories from communities around the world,” the official website of the initiative states.
