“We once again got convinced in what disastrous situation our rivers are because of the huge number of SHPs on our rivers due to incorrect projects and operation,” says the statement made by “Trchkan” civic initiative. “Competent bodies, the Committee on Regulation of Public Services, generously issue licenses, while the opinion of the Environmental Expertise has an imitation nature without taking into consideration environmental and socio-economic standards…The grabbing of natural resources carries on,” the activists think.

The statement also outlines that current problems demand urgent solutions at governmental level, which bears the main responsibility for the existing situation. “We hope that officials provide this information to the RA Police and Public Prosecutor’s Office to initiative criminal cases,” the statement says. As substantiation they present the video shot on the Tchitchkhan River, where an SHP is constructed in a distance of 1 km from Trchkan waterfall. “The rivers are on the verge of dessication, there are no corridors for fish, no environmental flow, the environment is destroyed,”  “Trchkan” initiative group mentions.
