“We are to limit global temperature rise to below 2 degrees Celsius,” said UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon at COP21 Paris Climate Change Convention. The aim of this convention is to adopt a new protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, under which all countries shall take actions aimed at limiting reductions of greenhouse gases.

“Even a 2-degree rise will have serious consequences for food and water security, economic stability and international peace. We can address such global problem only through the UN.”

“This is a good start. But we need to go much farther and much faster if we are to limit global temperature rise to below 2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, we shall support the countries to adjust to irreversible consequences,” Ban Ki Moon said and added that no country can face climate change challenge alone.

“I see four criteria for success – durability, dynamics, solidarity and creditability,” Ban Ki Moon said.
