Despite the fight against the electricity price rise last year known as “Electric Yerevan”, the heavy burden of electricity price rise was left on the shoulders of the citizens.

“As the audit found out that everything was normal and there was no violation, the price of 49 AMD was introduced starting from 1 October, out of which the government should have subsided 7 AMD, the subsidy limit was up to 250 kWh. At first they said if you spend up to 250 kWh we calculate at old prices, and the electricity spent after 250 at new, higher price. Let’s say, I used 260 kWh, out of which 250 kWh is calculated with 42 AMD and 10 kWh with new rate. But then it turned out that if you spend even 1 kWh more than 250 kWh, all the electricity used is calculated with the new price. Electrical meters calculate with night-day rate and here it turns out that the hours of the meters are shifted - beginning from several minutes to several hours. I have conducted monitoring: it’s a common thing.”
