An energy efficiency pilot project is being implemented in the Republic of Nagorno Karabagh. If the project justifies itself, a similar project will be implemented in borderline villages of Tavush region, as Hayk Harutyunyan said, Energy and Natural Resources Deputy Ministry at “Sustainable Energy Systems in the South Caucasus: Reality or Illusion?” discussion held at the American Univesity of Armenia with the support of Heinrich Böll Foundation (Germany). “Last year we selected one village and changed the lighting in 109 houses due to a private sponsor. Now it’s being monitored, we have already received the data for January, as soon as we receive the data for February, we will take measures to implement a similar project in Tavush borderline village. By implementing similar projects we should prove economic profitability and the next step will be for the state to buy lamps and to donate it to the population to reduce energy consumption, which will positive results.”
