There are three social forums operating adjunct to Nature Protection Ministry, which ensure the detection and multilateral discussion of environmental problems. As Armen Vardanyan, Nature Protection Ministry Information and Public Relations Department Head, said at the round table “Climate Change – Civil Society as Main Partner and Beneficiary” held at “EcoLur” Press Club on 24 March, it’s impossible to solve environmental problems without cooperation with NGOs.
“Climate Change Prevention National Program was tabled for discussions; we received and took all responses into consideration thus ensuring public awareness. We have also created an official forum of the ministry in the social network, which ensures public awareness. Three years ago a unit of environmental education was established in our department, which has initiated institutional and legislative amendments in this sector since its establishment. A draft law has been developed, which is on the agenda of the National Assembly. Environmental education is only effective, if education is formal. I’m happy to say that environmental education network has been formed, where we can discuss many issues and ensure public awareness. Financing is also important in environmental awareness and I’m glad to note that the state already provides grants for this purpose,” Armen Vardanyan said.
