Afghanistan calls on the international community to provide US 2 million to combat the heavy drought dominating in the recent 10 years. Almost half of the population has to face drought and starvation.

In some regions, wells have got dry and farmers are selling their animals and moving into other regions. Currently 2.6 million people are suffering from drought in the country, mainly in the eastern and northern regions of the country. Nevertheless, this figure can mount up to 10 million in winter.
