

“Strengthened Protection and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity in Armenia in Line with European Standards” Twinning project kicked off.
It will be implemented under the European Community and Partnership Instrument coordinated by RA Environment Ministry and by a consortium of the Czech Republic and Finland.
Within the framework of the project, the first online meeting took place with the participation of representatives of Armenia, the Czech Republic, Finland and other partner organizations on May 5, 2021.
Acting Environment Minister Romanos Petrosyan, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia,
Deputy Minister Anna Mazmanyan and Project Manager David Lasina presented the Twinning program, implementation goals and expected results. Kimo Siryane and David Lasina introduced the participants to the success story from Finland about protection of Lake Salmaa Ringed Seal and the Czech example on conservation of ground squirrel in the Czech Republic. Lasina also spoke about the cross-border Carpathian migration corridor.
After the question and answer session after the discussion, the parties expressed hope that the program will be quite effective and will fully serve its goals.
