The Law on Making Amendments to Law on Approval of Annual and Comprehensive Plans for Restoration, Preservation, Reproduction and Use of Lake Sevan Ecosystem adopted in August 2021 allowed an additional 75 million cubic meters of water intake from Lake Sevan bringing the total water intake to 245 million cubic meters. According to the same law, the additional sums generated by the sale of electricity generated by International Energy Corporation and Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC in excess of 170 million cubic meters of water discharged from Lake Sevan in 2021 should be directed to targeted investments in irrigation system modernization.
