EcoLur has released its new video titled “Nature at Heart of Border Village Shaghat’s Development,” which tells the story of the growth of Shaghat, a borderline village in Armenia’s Syunik Region. The village is presented as a model where nature conservation and a green economy are harmoniously integrated.
The video highlights the support provided to the community within the framework of “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project, as well as the active participation of the local population in nature conservation and sustainable use.
It showcases how a local agricultural cooperative has revived the traditional production of linseed oil using modern technologies; how solar energy is helping reduce pressure on forests; and how the collection of wild plants has become a source of employment and income for women—thanks to LILA-supported training and packaging initiatives.
The video was produced as part of the Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) project, which is funded by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and implemented by Caucasus and Armenia offices of the WWF in partnership with Strategic Development Agency NGO.
