Self-Determined Supporters of Mashtots Park
On 4 May the supporter of Mashtots Park handed the Armenian Constitution to the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan as well. The statement addressed to the President particularly says, “The aim of our fight in Mashtots Park is to implement our constitutional rights, to recover lawfulness and public property. The dismantling of illegally constructed pavilions in Mashtots Park and elimination of existing illegal actions, under the Armenian Constitution, is exclusively within the authorities of Yerevan Municipality and law enforcement bodies. In this sense, the President is now empowered to give orders to Mayor. During his visit on 1 May, you didn’t perform your authorities as the guarantor of the Armenian Constitution, you didn’t refer to the issue of unlawfulness of placing pavilions and protecting priority of public property and public rights, to illegal actions of the police and violent actions forced by the police.
We would like to present you the Armenian Constitution to remind that you are its guarantor and have to guide all your actions exclusively in line with the Constitution,” the letter says.
