Appeal to Local Authorities: If You Can’t Protect Your Nature and Your Villages, Don’t Prevent Others from Doing it

Lori Regional Head Artur Nalbandyan and Teghout Village Head Harutyun Meliqsetyan immediately responded to the appeal by famous rock musician Serj Tankian to protect Teghout from felling and not to allow destruction of environment due to open pit mining of Teghout polymetalic mine. They reproach the musician with his protest against Teghout project saying they need jobs on the spot and that Teghout project ensures economic growth. No word about what will happen after the mine exhaustion: Vallex Company will leave; ministers will leave for more favorable countries, where they have bank account numbers. While Teghout Village having turned into an industrial community will stop existing. We can’t believe that the regional head or the village head don’t take pity on their own nature, forest and water. We are appealing to local authorities. If you can’t protect your nature and your villages, don’t prevent others from doing it.
