“Khosrov Forest”, “Trchkan” and Teghout Support civic initiatives demand from the Armenian Government to set up a new, interdepartmental working group, which will examine the sphere of SHPs. The initiatives have circulated a statement addressed to Nature Protection Minister, which says,
1. we appeal Nature Protection Minister and Ministry competent officials to immediately start laying down the terms of reference for the working group to examine the problems connected with “Khachaghbyur-1” and “Khachaghbyur-2” SHPs,
2. In current week to initiate the establishing of a new interdepartmental working group by Armenian PM, which will examine this sphere and work out SHP environmental and socio-economic impact assessment complex methodology.
The interdepartmental working group should at least include specialists from Nature Protection, Agriculture, Economy, Territorial Administration, Energy and Natural Resources Ministries, as well as specialists from proper committee on regulating public services in Armenia and NGO representatives.
3. To initiate administrative measures within one week to stop the construction of SHPs having already been issued the permit before the working group works out SHP environmental and socio-economic impact assessment complex methodology."
