It’s already the second day since a real chaos has been reigning on the official website of Nature Protection Ministry, www.mnp.am. The statements are displayed without any chronological order. Whether it’s a matter of intention or technical problems, we don’t know. But, as a result, the information about events, especially information about public hearings, becomes unavailable for the public.
Many people don’t know about the venue and tome of public hearings and the planned project. Besides, the announcements from the ministry website are published in the newspapers, which are practically unavailable in the villages, where public hearings are held. It should be mentioned, that the Armenian Government as represented by Nature Protection Ministry, has assumed a number of commitment to fulfill the requirements of the Aarhus Convention. Particularly the Ministry should ensure the dissemination of information and public participation in decision-making on environmentally important matters, while the official website of the Nature Protection Ministry should promote this.
