Cyanic Plant in Meghradzor: To Be or Not To Be (Photos)

Whether or not the cyanic plant should exist in Meghradzor? This question was put for the discussion in the course of the public hearings held on 5 December by Meghradzor Gold Company.

Even before the start of the hearings it turned out that the project having submitted for the discussions significantly differs from the project displayed on the website of Nature Protection Ministry, i.e. the ministry website displayed only one part of this large project. That’s why the discussions were held together with the explanations provided by Developer Hovik Nikaghosyan, Head of Environmental Department of “Lernametalurgiakan Institute” and Company Owner and Director Vardan Margaryan.

The essence of the project is that the company intends to open a cyanic plant in Meghradzor Village, in immediate proximity of houses and rivers. The developer assured those present that the submitted cyanic plant is harmless, waste-free and almost doesn’t contain any risks, even in case of breakdowns. But the people who agreed to the aforementioned are mainly company employees. People dealing with agriculture opposed to this project.
