The statement of Nature Protection Ministry informs that the Global Environmental Fund, GEF, will allot 4.7 million USD for the program of elimination of expired pesticides, persistent organic pollutants. The program will be implemented together with Nature Protection Ministry. “Still form the Soviet times pesticides have been accumulated in large scales. A wide-scale program was implemented late in the 70’s, early in the 80’s to dispose pesticides in specially constructed depositories or graveyards. As of 1990, around 600 such depositories are located in the territory of Armenia.”
