National Assembly Deputy from “Prosperous Armenia” party Vahan Babayan made an enquiry in regard with the expenses of the state budget on the stocktaking and studies of fish and crawfish reserves in Lake Sevan. The article on expenses about which the deputy made an enquiry makes up 7,624,000 AMD.
Nature Protection Ministry publicized the official response to Deputy Vahan Babayan, which particularly says “that the need for expenses is prescribed by RA Law “On Approving Annual Complex Action Program on Preservation, Usage and Reproduction of Lake Sevan Ecosystem.””
The Ministry notes that the following items are subject to examination: “1) revelation of biological and environmental indications of species spread of fish and factual state of reserves, 2) revelation of biological and environmental indications of species spread of crawfish and factual state of reserves, 3) ecological and economic substantiation, working out recovery ways, the assessment of factual state connected with biological data of endemic fish species in the drainage basin of Lake Sevan.”
It should be noted that the cost of the whole program is about 376,000,000 AMD.
