The activists of ‘green” movement are establishing an environmental front. On 16 January this statement made by an initiative group composed of Yeghia Nersesian,  Mariam Suohudyan, Vache Tovmasyan (USA) and Levon Galstyan. The statement particularly says: “Making use of the fact that people don’t have proper level of knowledge and that environmental legislation is insufficient, corruption phenomena can be observed in the corridors of authorities, imperfectness of environmental legislation, foreign capital and local oligarchs mercilessly waste natural resources causing irrecoverable damage and migration of people from rural areas. The Armenian authorities not only don’t take factual measures to stop this national disaster, but they themselves present an integral part of the whole system patronizing it.

Bowed down by earning of daily food, people, especially those, who are in the middle of capital embezzlement, are not able to withstand and correct the situation.

The nature of our country is poisoned and we are facing a threat of environmental migration and resettlement of people from their native country, which undermines our statehood:

WE DECLARE

About the establishing of Panarmenian environmental front. The aim is to protect the nature of Armenia, to ensure social justice and natural economic growth.” We propose to organize a panarmenian network of environmental monitoring and actions to achieve it on the principles of voluntariness, accountability, transparency and lawfulness.”

The statement also says that a coordination council and consultative body will be established.  First of all, the activists intend to include Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Los Angeles (USA) and Russia (RF).
