Raffi Hovhannisian Promises to Increase Salaries to Atomists To Ensure Security

Presidential Candidate Raffi Hovhannisian started his election campaign in the area of Armavir Region. Metsamor is the town of atomists. During the elections to the National Assembly on 6 May 2012 the “Heritage” Faction outran the party in power, the Republican Party of Armenia. “Our main problem is to get a normal standard and to think about the safety of the nuclear station and not to think how to earn our daily bread,” said the people gathered at the meeting on 26 January.

In his speech Raffi Hovhannisian particularly said, “The people employed at the ANPP are in the front edge, like those people, who defend our borders and they should have special privileges, which will be in new Armenia. We should construct a new power unit of the ANPP in accordance with advanced standards. But we should develop an alternative energy due to the sun and wind. This is the solution for our country, so as our children could live in ecologically clean country,” he said.

Raffi Hovhannisian was accompanied by Anahit Bakhshyan. In her conversation with EcoLur she reminded that the “Heritage” Faction assisted that the ANPP employees could be paid their debt in seven-year salaries in the amount of 930,000,000 AMD. She also pointed out another ecological problem – destroyed sewage system of the town. “I visited the school here on 1 September and it was impossible to breathe. The town is in an extremely hard unhygienic state.”
