Senior Investigator of Special Criminal Investigative Department of Sardaryan Division made a motion to Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan about necessary measures directed to removing causes of poaching in Khosrov Reserve, in regard of which a criminal case has been initiated.

The Criminal Investigation Department investigated the case about systematically organized hunting of red-listed animals in Khosrov Forest, such as brown bear, bezoar goat etc. The basis of the case was a public report made by Yeghia Nersissian and Mariam Sukhudyan after their visit to Kaqavaberd section.

The investigator drew the Minister’s attention to the fact there are essential drawbacks in the protection of the reserve zone, as the protection and control of the territory was not secured. As a result, the accused Norik Sargsyan and others had an opportunity to break into the reserve and hunt there.

Eight people are employed at Kaqavaberd section, who protect the territory of 850-1000 ha (section head’s salary is 55,000 AMD, and that of inspectors is 41,500 AMD). The inspectors are not provided with proper transportation means and guns, which are definitely needed for such a risky zone as Kaqavaberd section is.
