On 5 February for the first time EcoLur ensured live broadcasting of the public hearings of “Gndevanq” SHP working project held in Jermuk. Despite technical drawbacks it turned out that there are a number of drawbacks in the project raised by public representatives, such as “Center for Jermuk Development” NGO Chairman Vazgen Galstyan, Jermuk resident Macedon Aleksanyan, EcoLur Expert Levon Galstyan and “Environmental Expertise” of Nature Protection Minister SNCO Expert Karine Movsisyan. As Levon Galstyan told “EcoLur” from Jermuk on the phone, neither “BSB” LLC neither representatives, nor Jermuk Municipality representatives attended the public hearings. The representative of the project developing company (“Mara and Daughters” LLC) a Mezhlumyan answered to the question of the participants, who said he was authorized to speak on the behalf of the company. No minutes have been drawn up. Under Levon Galstyan, the public hearings were not legitimate, as RA Law “On Environmental Impact Expert Assessment” has been violated. “The company submitted the project to the Nature Protection Ministry for environmental expertise on 11 September. Two months have passed, but the hearings should be held 22 days after the submission of the documents. As you may remember, the public hearings were not held due to the company twice, which I consider to be a violation of the law by the company. While the Nature Protection Company should have returned the project taking into consideration the requirement of the law,” Levon Galstyan said.
