The activities of Nature Protection Ministry in Khosrov reserve will be focused on by Supervisory Chamber of Armenia. This information was confirmed by RA SC Chairman Ishkhan Zakaryan at the meeting with public representatives on 8 February. Under the SC Chairman, special attention should be paid to the facts generating public response. Among them is the failure of Japan program on obtaining electricity from methane accumulated at Nubarashen landfill site, Khosrov reserve and the activities of the Environmental inspection.
The public called attention to the unresolved issue of dismantling the illegal building in Khosrov reserve, the need to change RA Code “On Soil” and Teghout project. The problem of compliance of environmental expertise positive opinions was raised.
The problem is that TA SC doesn’t have authorities to impose vindictive damages. Reminder: in 2010 RA SC carried out an examination of GeoProMining Gold Company and revealed wide-scale violations, but an interdepartmental committee was set up by Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, which soft-pedalled this issue. The examination was not followed by any sanctions in regard with the company.
