On 15 March Nature Protection Ministry held the contest for the position of 'Khosrov Forest' State Reserve Director. The press and public were not allowed to participate as observers and couldn't clarify the questions they were interested in on the spot. As Lawyer Meri Khachatryan explained at the press conference in EcoLur Club, governmental decision no. 224–Ն has been violated, which lays down the procedure for holding a contest for the director of state non-commercial organization. In accordance with this decision, if the organization belongs to the state by 100%, the contest committee should include public and governmental representatives. ‘The candidatures have been submitted earlier: Silva Adamyan, Mamikon Kasabyan and Arsen Gasparyan from NGOs, and Mariam Sukhudyan and Yeghia Nersisyan from civil society. But none of them has been granted the status of an observer. Thus, the Ministry has not only violated its own order, but also governmental decision no. 224, not already mentioning Article 27 of the Constitution,' Meri Khachatryan said.
In regard with this statement EcoLur has sent an enquiry to Nature Protection Ministry. 'According to RA Law 'On Freedom of Information' (Articles 6 and 9), we would like to ask to provide the following data of contest committee data – name, last name and position, as well as to outline whether there were public representatives among committee members. If there were any, we would like to ask you to mention who they were and to name organizations,' EcoLur says in its enquiry.
