Environmental inspections will be conducted in “Teghout” CJSC as the statement circulated by Human Rights Defender’s Office says. The statement says, “Due to long-lasting struggle of environmentalists and Human Rights Defender’s interference eventually environmental examinations will be carried out in the fourth quarter of 2013 in “Teghout” CJSC. Human Rights Defender’s Staff has received a response from Nature Protection Ministry.”
We hope that the examinations will be conducted by competent governmental bodies in strict compliance with law, it set timeframes and all the measures will be taken to find out lawfulness and to eliminate the violations detected.
At the same time Human Rights Defender’s Staff will persistently follow the solution to problems, as well as will response to the issues raised by environmentalists as effectively as possible.
Still in March 2013 Human Rights Defender’s Staff has examined the problems raised in the letter by “Teghout Support” Civic Initiative in regard with Teghout mine development, as its current development is carried out under new project not undergone any expertise, while their letter to Nature Protection Ministry on conducting inspections was left unanswered.
