A short while ago EcoLur learnt that the villagers from Nairi and Myansikyan communities, Armavir Region, blocked the main road running to their villages thus hindering to the free traffic. “As of today, our apricot has matured and we are not allowed to do business with individuals and to sell our apricot to them,” said Myasnikyan villager Hovik Hmayakyan, “By blocking the road we are demanding to permit us to sell our goods to them.” Under the residents, on 24 June they should have sold their apricot to individual entrepreneurs under prior arrangement, but in the evening on June 23 the latter called the villagers and told them without any substantiations they wouldn’t come to buy the apricot. The villagers demand from the authorities to interfere in these affairs and to give a solution to this problem. In reply to EcoLur’s question who hinders to the cooperation of villagers and individual entrepreneurs, Hovik Hmayakyan answered that pressures are evident, but they can’t say for sure who.
We learnt from the villagers that the police had already arrived and tried to disperse the people, but the villagers were not going to unblock the road.
