The “Aravot” is interviewing Syunik Regional Head Vahe Hakobyan.
- Mr. Regional Head, still last year the Meghri residents applied to you to express their concerns with the probable development of new mines in Meghri area and their further disastrous consequences. Any progress of trying their applications?
- Definitely Meghri area residents’ concerns are justified, though there is no need to be concerned now. If the problems and concerns of the mining economy are mainly conditioned with the presence of tails and generation of probable diseases, the technology of dry tails will be used in Meghri, i.e. no tails will be generated, as a principle.
- The residents are convinced that Tashtoun mine will pose huge threats for the region. Don’t you think that the opinion of the regional population should be taken into consideration?
- The preliminary studies have shown and proper assessment was given, if there any excesses, we will be the first to prevent the concerns you have.
- Recently there are rumours that new processes are going on in Zangezour copper and molybdenum combine connected with new probable buyers from Russia etc. To what extent this news is reliable?
- I have no idea about something like that. Always something can be purchased or sold, as this company is joint stock.
