On 17 September the Armenian Government adopted a resolution to alienate 100% shares of “Electric Networks of Armenia” (ENA) CJSC to “Inter RAO BV” company.
“Inter RAO BV” company has made a claim to the Armenian Government, where it informs about its intention to alienate the shares of “Electric Networks of Armenia” (ENA) CJSC it owns 100% to “Liormand Holdings Limited” Company. With this resolution the executive assigned the heads of stakeholder bodies – Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, Justice Ministry, Finance and Economy Ministries, Public Services Regulatory Committee, to examine the contract to be signed between the aforementioned companies, papers submitted and to give their opinions. Besides, the stakeholder ministries shall draft a contract, under which “Liromand Holdings Limited” Company will completely undertake all the commitments (with all further amendments) arising from the contract of sale of shares of “Electric Networks of Armenia” (ENA) CJSC signed between “Midland Resources Holding Limited” Company and the Armenian Government on 26 August 2002.
According to the press publications, both “Midland Resources Holding Limited” Company and “Liormand Holdings Limited” Company are registered in the offshore zone. The “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper even mentions the names of the buyers, “It’s already known who will be the owners of the ENA. Several months ago it became clear that famous Russian businessman, founder of “Tashir Group” Samvel Karapetyan will but the ENA. Share owners of the ENA will be Karen Karapetyan, Ex Director of “Hayrusgasard” company, Gagik Tsarukyan and ex MP Harutyun Pambukyan.” According to the same source, the transaction of selling the ENA will be finalized in February 2016.
The government members mention that the change in the ENA owner won’t result in the tariff change and the audit in the ENA will continue.
