Energy Efficiency Level To Be Increased by 50% in 20 Buildings of Public Significance

On March 31, the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved the draft decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia on approving the draft agreement on “Energy Efficient Regions: Implementation of mechanisms to increase energy efficiency in public buildings and support to provision of a grant for financing  "Green Energy Development" project. The agreement was signed on March 4.

The goals of the project are as follows:

· Increase in energy saving level by 20% in 20 public buildings (school, kindergarten, hospital), which will lead to annual energy savings of 3,000 MW, reduction of 700 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

· Establishment of infrastructure services providers and development support.

· Raise awareness among energy representatives of at least 20 regional administrative bodies on the mechanisms of attracting energy saving loans and energy efficiency.
