According to the spring forest pathology examinations, the area infected with leaf-eating pests and diseases in the regions of Armenia accounts to 11,575 hectares. According to the data for 2019, it makes up 5400 hectares, another 6100 ha accounted for in 2020, as RA Environment Minister Romanos Petrosyan stated on January 20 during the working consultation on the fight against forest pests and diseases.
"The main task is to be ready to carry out a systematic fight against diseases, pests, prevent the spread, and deforestation in early spring this year," the minister said.
Instructions have been given to consider the issue of identifying and mapping possible new areas infected with pests and diseases, so that the same processes can be carried out in those areas.
