2895 hectares of land provided to "Safari International" Armenian-Italian Joint Venture LLC without the right of gratuitous use is being returned to the state.
According to the Public Relations Department of RA Environment Ministry, by decision N 894-N of Armenian Government dated on June 10, 2004, 339.5 hectares of the pastures of the reserve fund of "Yeghegis Gorge" outside the administrative borders of the communities of Vayots Dzor Region were transferred to the category of forest fund land areas, the mentioned land areas and 2060.5 hectares from the land areas of "Yeghegis Gorge" forest fund, 495 hectares from Geghi and Darmanadzor sections of Syunik Region were separated and provided to "Safari International" Armenian-Italian Joint Venture LLC with the right of gratuitous (permanent) use.
Environment Ministry notified to the official e-mail address of the company by a letter dated on September 22, 2020 on the expiration of contract N KAS-000003 "Protection, reproduction and use of wildlife objects" signed on September 23, 2015, moreover, there is an electronic confirmation of reading this e-mail.
On February 11, 2021, the Government included as a non-reportable issue the draft resolution to terminate the relevant contract with Safari International on the initiative of Environment Ministry and to annul the relevant resolution of the Government.
With the adoption of the draft, the state is given the opportunity to fully and effectively ensure the management and preservation of specially protected areas of nature or forest land areas.
