Taguhi Tovmasyan, Chair of Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs of RA National Assembly, responded to the letter of the civil society, which demanded to recognize as illegal the public discussion initiated by "Metal Gold" LLC on August 18, 2022 in Gladzor settlement of Yeghegnadzor community in Vayots Dzor region, as well as the minutes drawn up by the company and not to accept the application filed by "Metal Gold" LLC for examination.
"In response to your letter sent to me on 24.08.2022, I am informing the following: I have studied your application and as a result of the study, I have decided to send it in an appropriate letter to RA Environment Minister, asking him to provide clarifications on a number of issues.
Based on the content of the response letter, I inform you that the public discussions organized by "Metal Gold" LLC refer to the preliminary assessment stage of the examination, where the Center has no powers. The application for preliminary assessment of the impact on the environment of the geological prospecting for the extraction of minerals from Gladzor polymetallic mine was not submitted to the environmental impact assessment.
At the same time, it is informed that the information provided by the public will be considered if the application for preliminary assessment of the environmental impact of the planned activity is submitted for examination.
At the same time, I inform you that based on the content of the reply letter received from the minister, a corresponding letter is being prepared to Head of Yeghegnadzor Community, and I will additionally inform you about its results," as the letter of Taguhi Tovmasyan, Chair of Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs of RA National Assembly, says.
