“Vayq Resource” Company intends to develop Gladzor polymetallic mine. The public hearings on this project will be held at 15:00 on 20 June in the club building of Gladzor community, Vayots Dzor Region. This information is displayed on the official website of Nature Protection Ministry.
Gladzor polymetallic mine is located in Yegheghadzor area, Vayots Dzor Region, in a distance of 8.5 km from Gladzor Region. The nearest settlements are Vernashen, Hermon and Goghtanik Villages, which are located in a distance of 5.3 km from the mine. The mine is situated in the drainage area of the Arpa River, in the river basin territories of Yeghegis, Malishka, Herher and Gladzor, tributaries to the Arpa River. The total economic damage caused to economy with the pollution of water resources makes up 26.14 million AMD. Under the project, the mine will be developed in opencast and closed manners. Three areas of the open mine only jointly contain 82.99 tons of gold, 1546.62 tons of silver, 143.92 tons of lead, 5653.94 tons of zinc, 521.78 tons of copper. The territory issued with the license makes up 1537 ha. The mine is situated in a seismic zone with a probability of quakes 9 magnitude and over.
Annually 322.5 tons of explosives will be used, estimated annual productivity of the underground mine will be 500,000 tons and that of 61.97 thousand tons for the open mine. The mine will be developed for 28.4 years. The mine development will result in the emission of dust, carbohydrates, sulfuric anhydride, hydrocarbon oxide and nitrogen oxides. The average amount of barren rock makes up 1176250 square meters, out of which 42617 square meters will be used for filling the empty places in the underground mine, while the remaining 1133633 square meters will be transferred to the dump.
