The tractors owned by 'Ler-Ex' LLC developing Hanqasar mine are destroying the apple orchard. Kapan resident Samvel Gabrielyan is beating an alarm signal on Facebook, 'I have 2.8 ha apple orchard in Ajabaj (Nor Astghaberd) Village in Kapan.'Today people called me from there and informed that tractors from Maksim's mines are destroying apple orchards, which I have been cultivating for many years and which has been giving tons of harvest, to lay tile pipes, which will destroy not only the whole orchard, but also the whole village.'
'Sustainable Development' NGO Chairman Armen Parsadanyan immediately responded to Samvel Gabrielyan's request, who said in his interview with EcoLur, 'Hanqasar copper and molybdenum mine tail pipe is being connected to the tail pipe of Zangezour copper and molybdenum combine.' Under Armen Parsadanyan, this fact is welcoming, as afterwards the mine tails won't be dumped into the Geghi River and another tailing dump will be constructed.
A problem was also fixed, 'The company doesn't want to run negotiations with the residents and to compensate.' ZCMC person in charge of the construction works said, 'We don't have any time for that.'
Nor Astghaberd Village Head Surik Tevanyan said in his interview with EcoLur, that the residents had been informed and supported it, while the alarm signal beaten by Samvel Gabrielyan made the village head angry, 'It's already 4th year, since he has been paying no interest either in the orchard or even paying fees.' Under the village head, only two trees had been cut down, but the company promised to plant 12-20 trees after accomplishing the works.

He couldn't pay fees, as hadn't made any benefit from the orchard. 'The mine is constructed on the drinking water of Kapan. Besides, the territory has red-listed plant species. After mine development was launched, we got deprived of water, while cars drive through the territory and destroy grass and vegetation. I can't control all this. How can I take care of the orchard after all this?' Under his information, 7 trees have already been cut down.
