"Baktek Eco" LLC intends to construct a cyanic plant in Arjut community, Lori Region. On 23 January, at 12:00, the public hearings of the EIA of the construction project of Arjut gold mine processing plant will be held at Arjut Rural Municipality.
It should be mentioned that "Baktek Eco" LLC has already received a permit from Nature Protection Ministry for the opencast development of Arjut gold mine. With this initiative the company violated Clause 2 of Arjut mine EIA preamble, which says, “The mines ores will be transported to Armanis ore dressing plant located in a distance of 30 km” and no word about the cyanic plant.
The alienation area for the open pit makes up 15.7 ha, the area for tails – 13.6 ha. The plant will occupy 11.1 ha area. The contractual value of the land area has been assessed 150,000 AMD for one ha vs. 3090.9 kg of gold, 17.64 tons of silver and 6821 tons of copper reserves.
The cyanide will be used at the plant to process 100,000 tons of ore per year.
Under the project, the tails will be stored in the area of 4.5 ha located in the plant territory. The project doesn’t say any word how many tons of tails will be stored, the structure of the warehouse and the date of reclaiming.
The project also doesn’t assess the safety of the cyanic plant.
