On 10 September the court hearing of “Dundee Precious Metals Kapan” vs. environmental activist Yeghia Nersissian was over with a partial satisfaction of the claim. Arabkir and Qanaqer-Zeytoun Court of General Jurisdiction ruled to fine Yeghia Nersessian in favour of “Dundee Precious Metals Kapan” 1 AMD as damages of defamation and 1500 AMD as court expenses.
“If the company decides to appeal the ruling, it will be appealed, if not, then that’s it…all this means that Yeghia Nersessian disseminated false information and this false information was denied through the court, i.e. no electric shock was applied, while the compensation of 1 AMD means, we were right and they were wrong,” Company Legal Consultant Gevorg Hakobyan said.
Yeghia Nersessian mentioned, “The court didn’t meet their main demand, i.e. mu public apologies from the company.”
