"The wording about Armenia’s refusal of a Russian loan for the lifetime extension of the Armenian nuclear power plant (ANPP) is not correct, since most of the $ 270 million provided, namely $ 200 million has already been spent, and this is the remaining small part," Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin said at the online press conference held on 11 June.
He noted that the work was not completed at the ANPP before the expiration of the intergovernmental agreement, but did not indicate the reasons. The ambassador said that the issue was not closed, although an arrangement had not yet been reached.
Reminder: at the June 11 sitting, the Armenian government announced that it was refusing from the rest of the Russian loan for the lifetime extension of the second power unit of the ANPP, and that the work would be carried out at the expense of a budget loan in the amount of 63 billion 200 million AMD.
