"Regarding the 1st and 2nd questions in your letter:
Potassium iodide tablets are used to prevent thyroid damage, exclusively in nuclear power plant accidents accompanied by discharge, within 6 hours after the accident. As an alternative method of potassium iodine, 44 drops of 5 percent iodine solution or 22 drops of Lugol's solution can be used by dissolving them in milk or water.
It is forbidden to use the potassium iodine pill without certain indications, because it can cause a severe disturbance of the function of the thyroid gland.
Based on the above, potassium iodine tablets were not distributed.
Regarding the 3rd question:
Under the decree of RA Government Decision No. 2328 dated on December 5, 2005, the required amount of potassium iodine tablets was calculated.
Regarding the 4th question:
Under the decree of RA Government Decision No. 2328 dated on December 5, 2005, in case of need, the distribution of potassium iodine pills is carried out through medical organizations located in the PPMI and EPMP zones.
