Armenian NPP and TVEL, JSC have signed contract documents for nuclear fuel supplies. The contract ensures refueling for regular overhauls and available stock of fuel assemblies for two years. As the official website of the Russian Company says, the contract documents were signed during the visit of the top managers of TVEL Fuel Company (manages Rosatom’s nuclear fuel dicision) to Armenia. The delegation of TVEL was headed by Natalya Nikipelova, President of TVEL, JSC.
“TVEL offered its Armenian partners increased energy security and favorable commercial terms for nuclear fuel supplies thus confirming the high level of our long partnership and mutual trust. The NPP plays a key role in domestic power supplies that is why the reliable and continuous operation of the plant is of crucial importance. In 2016 we made a joint decision to form a nuclear fuel stock at Armenian NPP,” said Natalya Nikipelova, President of TVEL, JSC.
Nuclear fuel supplies to Armenian NPP that generates up to 40% of electricity in the country represent an important direction of Armenian-Russian cooperation in the power sector. Fuel produced in Russia has been supplied to unit 2 with the installed capacity of 440MW (VVER-440) since 1995.
